Celebrating 20 years of excellence, this beautiful, scenic and challenging 18-hole, Dick Phelps-designed course, has matured into one of Texas’ best since opening in 1989. The layout traverses through a solid hardwood forest, over meandering creeks and under a railroad trestle.  The course builds upon the railroad theme throughout, utilizing 3 authentic vintage railroad cars as restrooms, a snackbar and an office for the teaching staff.

Although Iron Horse is "only" 6,679 from the back tees, it plays much longer than this, as the course offers a wide variety of fantastic golf holes. The course requires draws, fades, "boomers" and lay-up shots off the tees and strategic plays into slick, undulating greens, that are well bunkered.

The golf course and facility have been regularly updated and improved over the past 20 years.  In September, 2006, the greens were converted to the fantastic Champion Bermuda grass.  This turf provides an incredibly smooth and consistent putting surface.  Along with the new greens, several tee-areas were rebuilt, bunkers re-done and newly-sodded areas were added throughout the course.  A total remodel of the Clubhouse interior was completed the following Spring, as part of the continuing upgrading of the entire facility. 

A par 70 payout, Iron Horse has four sets of tees to offer a challenge to players of all skill levels. The course plays to:
